Measured Performance in Real Use

The complaint that repeats across reorders is thermal drift: panels that test at 0.022 W/m·K in the lab but deliver 0.028 W/m·K once the facing steel expands under solar load. That gap comes from foam density variation between the centre and the edges of a continuous line. Our line holds density to ±3 kg/m³ across the full width, so the declared lambda stays valid after installation.

Critical Spec Rule

If the project specifies a fire rating, the foam formulation shifts to a higher isocyanate index. That raises density by 2–4 kg/m³ and adds 0.001–0.002 W/m·K to thermal conductivity. Confirm the priority — fire or thermal — before locking the recipe.

Adhesion between foam and facing is the other consistency lever. We run a pull-off test every 50 m on the line; anything below 0.12 MPa triggers a purge and re-calibration. That eliminates the delamination calls that used to arrive six months after site handover.

How to Choose Before Requesting a Quote

Most quality disputes start with a consistency gap between the spec sheet and the production run. The decision tree below separates the variables that move unit cost from the ones that move lead time.

Pre-painted Galvanized Steel (0.5–0.6 mm)

Standard for cold stores and industrial roofs. 25 µm polyester or 55% Al-Zn coating gives 15–20 yr corrosion warranty in C3 environments. Heavier gauge (0.7 mm) adds 1.2 kg/m² but allows 200 mm wider spans.

Tooling: shared coil slitter, no dedicated mould cost.

Stucco-embossed Aluminium (0.7–1.0 mm)

Chosen for food-processing walls and cleanrooms where wash-down chemicals attack steel. 30% lighter per m², but modulus is lower — panel deflection limits span to 3 m without intermediate supports.

Tooling: dedicated embossing roll; one-time charge amortised at 5,000 m².

Foam thickness drives the next cost step. 50 mm panels ship 420 m² per 40-ft HC container; 150 mm drops to 140 m². If the project can stage deliveries, ordering 100 mm now and 150 mm later avoids the freight penalty of mixed thicknesses in one container.

Usage Scenarios and Buyer Segments

Returns usually trace back to the same weak point: specifying a panel for the wrong service condition. The table below maps the real decision drivers.

  • Cold-store operators (−25 °C to +4 °C): need 100–150 mm cores with vapour-barrier facings; joint tape must survive thermal cycling without adhesive bleed.
  • Pre-engineered building erectors: order 50–80 mm roof panels in 11.5 m lengths; they value pre-punched fixing holes and colour-matched flashings shipped in the same crate.
  • Food-processing plant managers: specify aluminium-faced 80 mm panels with sealed joints; they audit for USDA-compliant surface finish and zero open cells at cut edges.
  • Modular construction factories: buy 60 mm wall panels in kit sets (window/door cut-outs CNC’d); they require ±1 mm length tolerance so modules align on site.

Each segment gets a dedicated production slot. That means the cold-store run uses a slower line speed for tighter density control, while the modular run runs faster with inline CNC. Mixing segments in one PO adds changeover time — and cost.

Working as a Production Partner, Not a Catalogue Supplier

Process capability is what separates a repeatable supply chain from a spot buy. Our continuous line produces 3,000 m² per 8-hour shift at 40 kg/m³ density. Tooling amortisation works like this:

  • Standard steel coil colours (RAL 9010, 9002, 7016): zero tooling charge, 7-day lead from coil stock.
  • Custom RAL or metallic finish: 14-day coil lead, minimum 2,000 m² to open a master coil.
  • Non-standard width (e.g., 1,150 mm vs 1,000 mm): new slitter knives, 3-day setup, amortised at 1,500 m².
  • Fire-rated foam recipe change: 24-hour purge, 500 m² minimum run to stabilise density.

Volume vs Lead Time

Orders above 5,000 m² unlock a dedicated production week — no changeovers, no colour sequencing delays. Below that, panels ride a shared schedule; add 3–5 days for changeover buffering. The unit price difference is typically 4–6% because the line runs at optimal speed without stops.

We also hold a rolling buffer of 200,000 m² of standard 50 mm and 80 mm panels in RAL 9010. That covers urgent top-ups while a custom run is in the queue. Buyers who forecast quarterly get first pull on that buffer.

Export Packaging and Handling Protection

Panels arrive site-ready only if the packaging survives the container journey. We configure every shipment to the panel thickness, facing material, and destination port climate.

Panel Type Packaging Method Edge Protection Container Loading Max Stack Height
50–80 mm Steel PE film + EPS corner guards + PET strapping 50 mm EPS L-profiles on all four corners Horizontal, 2 stacks per 40-ft HC 1.8 m (12 panels)
100–150 mm Steel PE film + EPS corner guards + PET strapping + timber bearers 75 mm EPS L-profiles + timber bearers at 1 m centres Horizontal, single stack per 40-ft HC 2.2 m (8 panels)
Aluminium-faced (all thicknesses) PE film + non-woven wrap + EPS corners + PET strapping Non-woven prevents strap imprint on soft stucco finish Horizontal, 2 stacks per 40-ft HC 1.8 m (12 panels)
CNC-cut kits (modular) Individual PE bags + labelled crate per module EPS corners + cardboard edge caps on cut edges Palletised, 20-ft container for < 100 m² N/A (crated)

Handling Warning

Never lift panels by the facing edges with forklift tines. Use a spreader bar or vacuum lifter rated for the panel width. Edge crush on the bottom panel of a stack is the single biggest source of site rejection — it shows as a 2–3 mm step at the joint that cannot be taped over.
